An American e-commerce platform and cloud computing company, Amazon now planning to open its first fulfillment center in Oklahoma City by the end of 2019 which will create new 1,500 full-time jobs.
Amazon’s new center will be in the 600,000 square-foot, according to the new release from the sources. Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer, making its footprint in every city.
Amazon’s Vice President of North America Customer Fulfillment, Mark Stewart said, “We’re excited to open our first fulfillment center in Oklahoma and in a city with an outstanding workforce and a commitment to providing great opportunities for employment.”
Further, Stewart added, “Amazon is committed to creating a positive economic impact in Oklahoma City and enhancing the customer experience throughout the region.”
Amazons team will be responsible to pick, pack as well as ship small products such as toys, book, other household products to the customers.
Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, “This is a great day for Oklahoma City and we’re thrilled to welcome Amazon’s investment in our community. A project of this magnitude required efforts from our city government, our Legislature, our state government, and our local economic development entities.” Further, David added, “It’s good for the whole city and we look forward to the catalyst we know this project will be for its immediate surroundings in South OKC.”
According to the source’s information, before a couple of days, the OKC City Council agreed $1.7 million in tax incentives for the facility. Apart from this thing, the e-commerce giant appears to be restarting its funding efforts in India after the digital insurance startup in India.
