The world’s third-largest airline, United Airlines has announced Josh Earnest’s appointment, who will be responsible to oversee global communications as well as boost the airline’s image. The airline announced that the former White House spokesman will act as the new Chief Communications Officer for the United Airlines. Sources stated that it’s a perfect fit and prior to this, the former White House spokesman stunned as a political analyst for MSNBC as well as NBC.
Chief Executive Officer at the United Airlines, Oscar Munoz said, “Josh is a proven leader and world-class communications strategist who has thrived when the stakes are the highest and the margin for error is the smallest. He’ll play a crucial role on our leadership team as we position our brand and this company for success.” Further, Munoz added, “I am looking forward to working closely with him to continue to expand United’s global leadership.”
Josh may have served in one of the most scandal-free administrations in recent White House history, so he will be tested in this new role. Josh’s appointment comes at a time in which United Airlines need strong communications leadership.
Last year, the airline the airline has suffered from a revolving door of negative press and faced heavy scrutiny for overbooking a flight. Past the year, the airline updated its pet policy after a passenger’s dog died onboard a United flight.
Josh Earnest will replace the former corporate communications SVP, Jim Olson, who left the company in December of last year. After five years of journey in Starbucks, Olson joined the United airline in 2016. But 2017’s overbooking debacle moved him to report Chief Administrative Officer Brett Hart, who was responsible to oversee airline’s public relations.
